Dr. Derek Hewitt is one of the newest additions to Spokane ENT, joining the practice in the summer of 2008. Dr. Hewitt enjoys the breadth of Otolaryngology. He treats many ENT related conditions and diseases. Some of these include chronic ear disease, cholesteatomas, hearing loss, otosclerosis, head and neck masses, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, and chronic sinus disease. One of his main interests is developing a Center for Voice Disorders in the Inland Northwest. Voice disorders are quite common. They include a broad range of diseases, from Vocal Cord Paralysis, Cysts and Nodules, to neuromuscular disorders, such as Spasmodic Dysphonia. Dr. Hewitt practices out of Spokane ENT’s new clinic in Spokane Valley on Mission Avenue, as well as from the group’s downtown office on Cataldo. He holds hospital privileges at Sacred Heart Medical Center, Deaconess Medical Center, and Holy Family Hospital.
Dr. Hewitt received his Otolaryngology training from the University of Missouri in Columbia. Prior to this he was in Salt Lake City where he received both his MD and MPH degrees at the University of Utah. His undergraduate degree was obtained at Brigham Young University. Dr. Hewitt is originally from Portland, Oregon and is excited to back in the Northwest after a long absence.
